Our Ethos

We believe that above all else compassion is what opens doorways for the wounded self to change. We seek to enable people to become who they essentially are, and were meant to be, through the process of long-term, relational therapy.

“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust. Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit .“

Therapy Session

Our work is underpinned by the following values

  1. We work to the BACP ethical framework for good practice in counselling.

  2. Our priority is to work with clients who have, or have had, an alcohol addiction or who are a family member of the same, but we do not turn away anyone that we feel we can help.

  3. People in active addiction can attend our therapy sessions.

  4. We will work with clients on prescribed medication.

  5. We believe that when individuals lapse, it is vital for them to receive extra support.

  6. We will work with individuals long-term for up to 2 years and longer in special circumstances.

  7. We do not use the Twelve Step program, but work according to psychotherapeutic principles.

  8. We do support people doing the Twelve Steps.

  9. As a diverse charity we are dedicated to working with clients from all backgrounds and identities.

  10. Every client pays a reasonable contribution towards the service, which is agreed at assessment.

  11. If we are unable to help an individual we will offer responsible advice and refer where appropriate.
